Dean Arvidson
Mackenzie studied with Dean Arvidson for an enjoyable four years.
Dean is a pianist, performer, composer and teacher of 5 instruments.
His expertise was instrumental in helping Mackenzie developed
as a composer and to learn how to sight-read music. Dean's web
site gives information about his CD's, performances, and background.
The
Walden School
The Walden School Young Musicians Program provides an unparalleled
creative summer experience for musically inclined students ages
9 to 18. Part school, part camp, and part festival, the program
convenes each summer for five weeks in Dublin, NH. Through rigorous
and innovative daily instruction, students hone their musical and
creative skills within a supportive community of like-minded peers
and mentors.
Summer Sonatina International
Piano Camp encourages students to become dedicated, serious
musicians who develop resourcefulness, thoughtfulness and self-discipline.
Students participate in sight-reading, chorus, theory, and composition
classes and enjoy many recreational activities. Summer Sonatina
is a "camp" where students live in the house with the
director and faculty. Mackenzie is in the front row, last one
on the right.
Lupus Foundation of New England
Mackenzie has donated his time to perform on several occasions
for the foundation to help raise money and awareness about this
debilitating disease. Here he is shown with Susan Wornick, co-anchor
of WCVB-TV's Midday news and the News Center 5 Consumer Reporter.
She is on the Board of Trustees for the Lupus Foundation of New
England. Susan hosted the event for the foundation that summer
evening in 2005, and Mackenzie played the opening performance,
followed by the amazing Judy Collins. In 2004 he performed at
a Lupus benefit hosted by Lily Tomlin. Mackenzie performed again
in April 2006 for the Lupus Foundation's Annual Gala.
